The Closure of Norman Laud Association and Charting a New Path Forward

by 7 Pools Run Committee

The End of a Legacy: Norman Laud Association Bids Farewell

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the closure of the Norman Laud Association. This institution which has stood tall for over 50 years in Birmingham, offering invaluable services to both young and adult individuals with profound learning and/or physical disabilities, had to unfortunately shut its doors. The complications arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, including restrictions, financial challenges, and the ever-present threat of the virus, played a significant role in the association’s closure.

Charting a New Path: Supporting the KIDS Charity

In the wake of this unfortunate closure, the question arises: where will the charity funds go for the next run? We are proud to announce our decision to support the KIDS charity going forward.

Located in the heart of Sutton Coldfield, the KIDS charity stands as a beacon of hope and support, transforming the lives of disabled children, young people, and their families for over 50 years. Their holistic approach ensures families are informed, children have spaces for fun and interaction, and every child gets the opportunities they deserve.

Looking Ahead with Hope

While the closure of the Norman Laud Association marks the end of an era, our decision to support the KIDS charity offers a glimmer of hope for a brighter future. Every step taken during the 7 Pools Run, amidst the natural beauty of Sutton Park, will now resonate even more deeply with a renewed purpose: supporting KIDS and ensuring that disabled children and their families continue to receive the support, opportunities, and care they deserve.

As we transition from one chapter to the next, we invite you to join us in making a positive difference, ensuring that the legacy of care, support, and community spirit continues to thrive.
