Concluding the 2020 7 Pools Run: Embracing the Rain and the Grit

by 7 Pools Run Committee

Nature has its way of testing our resolve. On Sunday, 15th March 2020, the 7 Pools Run became a testament to that. Gone was the typical fresh and vibrant ambiance of a spring run. Instead, Mother Nature gave us a different challenge – rain that ceaselessly poured down, turning the ground wet and making every step a test of willpower and endurance.

Wet Race Conditions

Yet, despite these challenging conditions, a hard-core group of runners turned up, ready to embrace whatever the day had in store. And they did it with gusto. A commendable 249 runners braved the rain and the slippery trails to complete the run. As the water splashed beneath their feet and the raindrops mingled with their sweat, each of them proved that it’s not about perfect conditions but the spirit of participation.

Race Results

Let’s take a moment to applaud the top runners of the day:

  • James Pentland grabbed the top spot, clocking in an impressive time of 40:21.
  • Just nine seconds later, Adam Copestake raced past the finish line at 40:30.
  • Jacob Fry secured the third position with a time of 40:39.
  • And close on his heels, James Ball finished in a strong 40:54.

Conquered The Course

However, this day wasn’t just about the frontrunners. Every individual who came, ran, and conquered the course, irrespective of their finish time, embodied the essence of the 7 Pools Run. It was about facing challenges head-on and emerging victorious, even if the victory was purely personal.

Thank You Runners

To all the participants – a massive ‘thank you’. Your dedication, perseverance, and spirit elevated this event, turning it from a mere race into an experience of camaraderie and collective resilience. Here’s to celebrating not just the run, but the relentless spirit of each participant.

May next year bring clear skies or rain; whatever the conditions, we know that the spirit of the 7 Pools Runners will remain undeterred.

See you at the next run!
